College Pipe offers a few primary ways to access the database:
Left-Side Navigation Bar: The general University Database can be accessed directly from the navigation bar on the left side of your screen. This typically shows all universities in the College Pipe database that have an athletic team, across all sports. It's useful for broad exploration or research not tied to a specific athlete's profile initially.
Universal Search (Ctrl + K): If you already know which institution you are looking for, you can use the Universal Search to find a university instantly.
Athlete's Specific Tabs: Accessed by selecting an individual athlete and using their specific unified tabs, this section is highly recommended when building a list for a particular athlete. The key advantages here are:
The athlete's sport is pre-selected, automatically filtering the list to relevant programs.
You can view the "Personal Fit" score calculated for that specific athlete with each university, providing an immediate compatibility rating.
Once you have a list of universities (either unfiltered or after applying filters), you can sort them to prioritize your view:
Alphabetical (Default): By default, the list of universities is sorted by name.
Personal Fit: You can sort universities based on the calculated Personal Fit score, as long as an athlete is currently selected. This helps quickly identify the most compatible schools based on College Pipe's assessment.
Last Coach Search Activity: Sort by the last time a coach from that university was active on College Pipe looking for athletes. This can help you find programs that are currently active in the recruiting process.
Wherever you see a university card, you can click the "Three-Dot" menu and select Recent Activity to get a 360-degree view of a school’s history with your organization. This provides a full overview of how your company has interacted with that university in the past, including:
Recruiting Board Overview: See exactly which athletes are or were in contact with this coach and their current status (e.g., who received an offer).
Email History: View a full log of which emails have been sent to that specific university across your organization.
Success Tracking (Signing): Instantly see which alumni have committed or signed there in the past.
The strength of the University Database lies in its detailed filtering capabilities, allowing you to narrow down the vast landscape of universities to those that best match an athlete's specific criteria.
Athletics Factors: These filters focus on the characteristics of the university's athletic program, such as Coaches Currently Looking, Conference, Division, the University's Athletic Level, National Rankings, and Other Sports Offered.
University Factors: These filters relate to the general characteristics and location of the institution, including Region, State, Campus Setting, Private/Public, College Type, Religious Affiliation, HBCU status, and Number of Undergraduate Students.
Academic Factors: These filters allow you to prioritize universities based on Academic Reputation, Graduate Programs, and Available Majors. For athletes with very specific academic interests, searching by major is crucial as it can significantly narrow down the list.
Cost: Filter based on the In-state or Out-of-state tuition cost before any scholarships are applied.
Saving Default Filters: You can save your favorite filter views so they are ready the moment you log in. You can save these for your own workflow or set them up as default filters for your athletes.
Once you have filtered and identified universities that appear to be a good fit, College Pipe allows you to take immediate action directly from the search results:
Select Universities: You can select individual universities from the displayed list. You also have access to a Global Select All feature, allowing you to select all universities across your entire database—not just page by page—for instant bulk updates or emails.
Add to University List: With universities selected, you can add them to one or multiple athletes' dedicated university lists. This is a fundamental step in building a targeted list for each athlete within their profile.
Contact Coaches: The College Pipe system also allows you to initiate contact with coaches at the selected universities directly from this section. You can contact coaches for one athlete or send a message regarding multiple athletes, streamlining the outreach process once you've identified potential fits.
